Donal Macintyre visits the Bajau laut (sea gypsies) as part of his series on disappearing ways of life. Born on a boat, Bajau laut live from and with the ocean, they have no nationality and no ties to the land. Donal lives with Pilar and his family on board his boat and learns to hunt and fish with the sea gypsies, becoming immersed in their way of life. Scubazoo provided location management, arranged permits, logisitics and filmed underwater sequences of spearfishing, clam gathering and a dramatitc mass fishing event called ‘muro ami’. ‘Edge of Existence’ was produced by Tigress for Animal Planet.
