After months of preparation and anticipation, Jason Isley, Matt Oldfield and Simon Christopher travelled to the UK at the beginning of September to launch Scubazoo’s latest coffee-table book, ‘Reef’.

Working in conjunction with Dorling Kindersley’s PR department, the Scubazoo team had a whirlwind week of interviews, lectures and television appearances, culminating in a launch party at Waterstone’s Piccadilly in the heart of London.

The purpose of the trip was to both publicise the launch of the book, as well as highlight marine conservation issues both in the UK and beyond. Towards this aim, DK lined up a wide variety of coverage, including interviews on local BBC radio stations, BBC Worldwide’s Outlook programme and DAB show Passion for the Planet, television appearances on Manchester’s Channel M, Bookzone and the BBC Breakfast show, and press interviews with journalists from the Mail on Sunday, Daily Telegraph, Press Association, Harpers Bazaar, The Scotsman and BBC Focus Magazine.

On September 24th, Jason and Matt gave a talk to over 400 people at the Royal Geographic Society, the opening night of the Society’s winter season of lectures. However, the highlight of the trip was the launch at Waterstone’s – an hour long presentation by the three Scubazoo members, followed by a Q&A and book signing session. The evening, declared a huge success by everyone involved, was attended by friends, family and members of the public, as well as editors and journalists from magazines such as Vogue, National Geographic Kids, Cosmopolitan and Diver – a fitting end to a hectic week!
