ERIC THEIN
Location Manager
A native Murut from Sabah’s South-West interior, Eric Thein is Sabah’s most experienced local TV production guru. He knows just about everyone and everything there is to know in and around Sabah. On the rare occasion he doesn’t have the answer, he’ll know a man that does!
Eric has been involved in many of Scubazoo’s shoots such as Survivor (ITV), Life in the Undergrowth (BBC NHU), The Jeff Corwin Experience (Discovery), Austin Stevens: Most Dangerous (Discovery), Deadly60 (BBC NHU)and Sacred Planet (Disney). As a natural history specialist he’s helped locate an array of creatures for productions, such as a 23ft reticulated python, saltwater crocodiles, pygmy elephants, orang-utans, and slow loris. Eric’s also adept at researching new locations and finding great new local characters and contributors for anthropological and other story angles too.
When he’s not at work or in Kota Kinabalu with his family, Eric’s most likely to be found in and around the Kinabatangan River, one of Borneo’s treasure troves of rare and exotic wildlife.
